Colin D. Kennedy, age 47, of Stamford, was killed around 1:45 a.m., Friday, June 30 on I-95 after drifting out of his lane and eventually hitting another car head-on, said the Connecticut State Police.
According to Stamford Police Assistant Chief Richard Conklin, Kennedy was a 911 dispatcher who has worked with the city since October 2005.
"He was well respected by his co-workers," Conklin said. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to his mom and two sisters."
According to an investigation, Kennedy was driving a 2017 Ford Mustang northbound when he drifted into the right shoulder, striking the metal beam guardrail then veered across all lanes, striking the concrete median barrier, state police said.
The vehicle then spun out in the left lane and struck a second 2019 Infiniti driven by a Stamford woman head-on.
Kennedy was rushed to Stamford Hospital where he died around 2:30 a.m., state police said.
The driver of the Infiniti received minor injuries and was transported to Greenwich Hospital.
The investigation of the crash is ongoing.
